After Trincomalee, via enroute to Kandy, I visited Luck grove spice garden in Matale. Sri Lanka is known for its many spices. Luck grove spice garden are very popular. I was introduced to different spices and shown how some of these are grown and processed. The processing and training has been set up by farmers and cooperative to ensure fair prices and later I could purchase some spices there. Gardens are open to visitors and are a delightful place to stroll in fragrant greenery and learn about nutmeg, pepper vines, clove trees, curry, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, sandalwood, jackfruit, vanilla etc.
They told me about the benefits of each and showed some essential oils for massages for aches and pains, etc. They demonstrated some massages too. At the end, Visitors could buy these and also enjoy a sumptuous spread of organic meal. It was one eventful trip.
