Review: ASUS ZenPad 8.0

I have not had any tablet till date. After a lot of research and survey I chose ASUS ZenPad 8.0. It is a top end model. I have already done a review about ASUS ZenFone 2 laser here. The Zenpad is like ZenFone with larger screen and more features. I must say it is an absolute delight to use. I am enamoured by its looks and features, which I must share with you.

ASUS Zenpad 8.0 has a display size of 20.3 centimetres, it comes with a Qualcomm MSM8929 64-bit Octa Core Processor and 16GB in-built memory. The device has an 8 MP auto-focus main camera that is armed with features like larger aperture, pixel master camera for brighter photos, zero shutter lag and manual mode support, and a 2 MP front camera with 140 degree selfie panorama. It is available in two colours - Obsidian Black and Aurora Metallic.

ZenPad 8.0 is priced at INR 17,999 with audio cover and INR 14,999 without audio cover. It is definitely worth investing in the cover. It has a very neat finish and feel.

It has Android operating system. It can be connected with bluetooth and Wi Fi.

Some of the highlights and my favourite features are:
  • It has a premium design and incorporates high specification technology – all at an affordable price. It features the world’s first integration of DTS-HD Premium Sound, has 3G network compatibility and a high-definition screen with 72% viewing area.
  • It has world's-first ASUS Audio Cover and ASUS Power Case.
  • It has wide screen-to-body ratio – bigger than many competitors – with a viewing angle of up to 178 degrees.
  • A 16:10 Aspect Ratio means no unsightly black bars on screen for movies and games.
  • Watching videos or movies on the ASUS ZenPad 8.0 becomes a joy with stunningly detailed images, sharper contrasts and deep rich colours.
  • Improved Contrast & Sharpness. Using the latest image processing technology usually found on high-end TVs, it analyses every pixel to optimise and sharpen each one. That means up to 1 million optimisations on a HD screen. This offers up to 200% wider contrast levels and Real Time HDR for sharper text and increased screen refresh rates for reduced blur.
  • It is able to detect different lighting conditions and automatically adjusts the display to make it easy to view even when outdoors in bright sunlight. When using other tablets, it is very difficult to read due to the reflection of the sun. However with ASUS Tru2Life Outdoor Readable technology, contrast and backlight enhancement makes the text much easier to read.
  • Intelligent settings know if a user is playing a game, watching video, looking at photos or on social networks and adjusts the contrast accordingly.
  • Make phone calls with it when a SIM-card is inserted into the slot underneath the Back Cover.
  • The tablet's primary speaker is at the top, and doubles up as the earpiece for calls.
  • ZenMotion creates shortcuts through Touch Gestures to instantly open apps when the display is off. For example drawing a ‘c’ with your finger activates the Camera, ‘w’ launches the Browser and ‘e’ takes you to emails. ZenMotion also understands your movements. Simply flip the ZenPad over to make it silent or tap the screen twice to wake it up.
  • Reading on a tablet can cause eye fatigue but it combats this by reducing the blue light emission by around 30% without disturbing the rest of the colour balance.
  • It weighs about 350gm and makes it very comfortable to carry and use.
Final Verdict: The smartphones have become bigger and tablets are becoming less popular but if you are looking for a tablet, this will be a great choice.

It comes with these pre installed apps.
